Gary Thryegod

NSW jeweller Gary Thryegod has won the Open Category Award with a white gold and pave-set pink and white diamond ring. Gary Thyregod explained his inspiration was to challenge himself by transforming the concept of a simplistic form into a stunning piece of jewellery.

"I wanted to create a piece which was simple and elegant and a bit of fun as well. I was thinking of a ball with a hole through it which sounds quite ordinary but when this concept was translated into a piece of jewellery, it became a stunning white gold and pave-set pink and white diamond ring," Mr Thryegod said.

Diamond Set Stress Ball

Set on the narrow side of the ring are 7 natural Argyle pink diamonds. This pink diamonds display a colour of 6P and weigh 0.11 carats in total. A pink diamond arrow has been created and is black rhodium plated. The arrow is a playful gesture to be spun for maybe a game of "truth or dare".

There are two ways the ring can be worn, either in a convention manner or alternatively with the ball in the palm of the hand and used as a stress ball.
